What has the Beedie Luminaries scholarship and mentorship program meant for you?
This scholarship means opportunity and support. It has given me so many opportunities and will continue to throughout my years in university. It gives me a sense of community in all the chaos of this year.
Was there anything that the Beedie Luminaries offered you that you didn’t expect?
I didn’t expect the mentors to be so involved. I also didn’t expect everyone in my cohort and in the 2019 cohort to be so open and helpful. So I underestimated the amount of support and understanding from the Beedie team and the other scholarship winners.
Why should students apply to Beedie Luminaries?
It is so important to have a community of support when entering university. This scholarship does a lot more than help you financially. Forming connections and friendships and gaining a larger professional circle with more opportunities are just some things that this scholarship can do for you.

What has the Beedie Luminaries scholarship and mentorship program meant for you?
It is so cliché to say, but it is difficult to put into words the staggering, life-changing effect that Beedie Luminaries has had on me and the other two hundred Luminaries so far. From the obvious financial support to the not-so-obvious mentorship and social support, the support Beedie Luminaries gives has truly allowed us to dream big and to succeed in the increasingly turbulent world around us.
Was there anything that the Beedie Luminaries offered you that you didn’t expect?
The thing that surprised me the most about Beedie Luminaries is how much I would go to other Luminaries and the Stay-On-Track coaches for support during this virtual semester. They are so warm and insightful; it is hard to imagine how I could have survived without knowing they have my back.

As such, I would encourage everyone to apply for the Beedie Luminaries program because you never know how one application can throw your big dreams into motion.
