‍Pattison Media wants to improve their industry by supporting the career development of and removing barriers to employment for underrepresented groups such as Indigenous Persons, Persons with disabilities, Members of visible minorities, and Women.

Up to four (4) $2,500 scholarships will be awarded annually to recipients based on geography:

  • 1 chosen applicant from each region: British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan/Manitoba combined
  • 1 chosen applicant as an all-around recipient from all applicants in Western Canada

How to Apply

Applicants must be a resident of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, or Manitoba.

Preference will be given to members of groups currently underrepresented in the Journalism industries.

A complete application includes the following components:

  • Essay describing how your personal situation aligns with Pattison Media’s goal of supporting underrepresented groups
  • Two reference letters from people that know you either personally or professionally, are currently working in the industry, or preferably, from a Journalism or Broadcasting school instructor
  • Completed Application Form

Selection Criteria:

  • The Essay will account for 50% of the total score assigned by the judges.
  • The two reference letters will account for 50% of the total score assigned by the judges.

The Scholarship Selection Team will review applications and announce the scholarship recipients in early April.
