The Waste To Resource Ontario Scholarship Program is designed to attract the next generation of student to pursue the waste and recycling industry. For the inaugural year, W2RO will be providing five (5) scholarships in the amount of $2,000.

To be considered for the program, applicants must be enrolled in a college, university, or trades program that will translate into work in the waste and recycling sector.  Applicants interested in applying need to be Canadian residents enrolled in an accredited Canadian trade school, college, or university.

These scholarships will be handed out annually at the CWRC – Canadian Waste to Resource Conference Awards breakfast June 12 at Fallsview Casino.

How to Apply

To be considered for the program, applicants must be:

  • Canadian residents enrolled in an accredited Canadian trade school, college, or university;
  • Enrolled in a program that will translate into work in the waste and recycling sector.

Written submission must include the following:

  • Signed copy of terms of scholarship
  • Completed application form, including essay component.
  • Reference letter(s) from previous employer or educators and/or:
  • Most recent transcript

The essay component will be the focus for the selection committee. Essay component should be no more than 500 words and should be completed on a separate document and then attached as part of application.

All submissions should be emailed to info@w2ro.org by May 1.

Scholarship winners will be determined by W2RO C&C Outreach Subcommittee, with the support of W2RO staff. The committee will review all applications and make decisions based on letter of recommendation, candidate essay response, and plans for future career in waste and recycling sector.

These scholarships will be handed out annually at the Canadian Waste to Resource Conference Awards breakfast in June.
