Threads of Life is a national charity that supports families who have been impacted by a work-related fatality, life-altering injury, or illness. In partnership with the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP), Threads of Life offers a scholarship program that awards four (4) $2,500 national scholarships to individuals whose lives have been affected by a workplace tragedy.

How to Apply

Threads of Life Scholarships may be applied for by any individual whose life has been personally affected by a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or illness. This may be a person who was personally injured or made ill due to work, or someone whose family member (parent, sibling, grandparent, life partner, etc.) experienced an injury, illness or fatality.

The applicant must be a full- or part-time student in a college, university or trade school program during the 2025-2026 academic year.

All submissions must include a completed application form, a written response to the questions outlined on the application form, including an account of community involvement, a letter of confirmation or acceptance into a college, university or trade school program, and a copy of the most recent university,college or trade school transcript, or high school transcript if not yet completed one year of a post-secondary program. Scholarship applications and supporting documentation must be submitted electronically using the application form provided on the website.

Written Requirements:
As part of the scholarship submission, the student must submit a written response to the question: “How the BCRSP/Threads of Life Scholarship will impact you and why you should be awarded the scholarship”. Your response is to be a maximum of 1,000 words, must be double-spaced, using a 12-point font, with one-inch margins, and must be written by you.

Eligible scholarship submissions will be reviewed and judged by the Scholarship Review Committee. BCRSP and Threads of Life reserve the right to verify the accuracy of submissions, and their decision is final.

Each written submission will be evaluated based on the applicant’s capacity to answer the question, organization of their essay, unity and cohesion of thoughts, grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, etc.

All applicants will be notified of the scholarship winners by Threads of Life in June 2025.

All essays submitted become the property of BCRSP and Threads of Life. Successful essays may be published by BCRSP and Threads of Life and may be, along with information about the winners, shared widely through the BCRSP and Threads of Life websites, media, and other publications.
