Each year the Dufferin Art Council (DAC) awards three, one-time scholarships, each worth $2,500.00, to students of exceptional talent in the field of the arts—the visual, literary or performing arts.

These awards are available to students who are residents of Dufferin County, graduating high school this year and preparing to attend an accredited university or college.

DAC acknowledges that all the categories of the arts include a wide range of programs.

Visual: Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Textiles, Graphic Design, Print Making, Architecture, Film Development

Literary: Creative Writing, English Literature, Books & Media, Journalism, Advertising, Media Studies, Professional Writing, Screen Writing

Performing: Drama, Music, Composition, Production & Design, Comedy, Theatre, Film Development, Dance

… and there are no doubt many more courses of study in each of these categories. Apply for the scholarship that will help you develop your talent

How to Apply

The applicant must be a resident of Dufferin County, be graduating in the current year, and be accepted to a recognized post-secondary institution.

Complete the Application form

You’ll be asked to describe your involvement with community service, activities/skills/talents, awards and accomplishments, and write a short essay that answers the following question:

Where do you see the arts going in the 21st century? Where do you see your future in the arts?

Completed applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. Successful applicants will be notified by the final Friday in August. In early September cheques will be deposited to the students’ accounts at the post-secondary institutions in which they are enrolled.
