To celebrate the 100th anniversary of women achieving the right to vote and hold public office in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Office of Women and Gender Equality is offering 100 scholarships valued at $1,000 each, to young women in grades 10–12. The goal is to recognize and support young leaders who are making a difference in their schools, homes, or communities.

You are eligible if you:
- Identify as a young woman (inclusive of transgender and gender-diverse young women).
- Are in/ or will be in grade 10, 11, or 12 at a high school in Newfoundland and Labrador in either the 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 academic years.
- Plan to pursue post-secondary education after high school.
- Show leadership and community contribution in any form – big or small.
- Complete the application form.
- Answer a few short questions (150–250 words each). While answering the questions, please avoid sharing any sensitive personal information that is not directly relevant to the application. Focus on experiences and insights that support your leadership and goals.
- Include two (2) reference letters. At least one must be from a school official.
- Once you have completed the application form, please email it along with your two (2) reference letters to wgeinfo@gov.nl.ca.
All applications are reviewed by a committee of staff from relevant departments. Judges will look for:
- Leadership and community contribution.
- Your personal story and goals.
- Representation from all regions and backgrounds.
- We will also ensure scholarships are distributed fairly throughout the province, with attention to equity and diversity.
