Canadians have access to a lot of student grants and loans. Here’s how you can find and apply to all the financial aid you need to pay for college and university.
Whether you’re in high school or already enrolled as a full or part-time student at college or university, there are government resources to help you pay for your tuition, living expenses, and more.
Student Grants
Grants do not need to be repaid and it’s possible that you’re eligible for more than one kind of grant.
Student Loans
Loans do not need to start being repaid until 6 months after you graduate or finish your studies. (Here are some tips on how to pay them back quickly.)
How much you can get will depend on:
- Your province or territory of residence
- Your family income
- If you have dependants
- Your tuition fees and living expenses
- If you have a disability

How to Apply
The key for you is to take advantage of your provincial or territorial aid office. Every province and territory is different, but each one will help you:
- Find out if you’re eligible for student grants and loans
- See how much money you can get
- Apply for all provincial/territorial and federal student grants and loans in one application
Once you apply, your province or territory will reach out to you for next steps.
Scroll down to your province or territory to find the student grants and loans that are available to you. Good luck!
