The Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship was established by Claudia (Lutes) Tugwell in memory of her parents Allen and Esther Lutes. The scholarship, valued at $1,000.00, is awarded annually to a deserving high school student from anywhere in Canada who will use said award toward the cost of the first year of his/her continuing education at an institution in Atlantic Canada.
The recipient will have demonstrated high academic achievement and financial need. Completed applications received on or before April 1st of each calendar year will be considered. Decisions will be announced on or before May 1st of that same year.

A complete application includes:
- Your estimated resources and expenses for the upcoming academic year;
- Tuition fees;
- A transcript of your grade twelve mid-year marks;

Your academic program(s) of interest and a list of institutions applied to;

A copy of your letter of acceptance;

Two letters of reference – sources can be academic, personal (but not from family members), and business.
Applicants must also submit two short essays: a personal profile, and a response to an essay question.
