The Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship

The Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship was established by Claudia (Lutes) Tugwell in memory of her parents Allen and Esther Lutes.  The scholarship, valued at $1,000.00 is awarded annually to a deserving high school student who will use said award toward the cost of the first year of his/her continuing education.

The recipient will have demonstrated high academic achievement and financial need. Completed applications received on or before April 1st of each calendar year will be considered. Decisions will be announced on or before May 1st of that same year.

How to Apply

  • Grade 12 High School Student
  • Continuing Education at a Post-Secondary Institution
  • Indicate your estimated resources and expenses for the upcoming academic year.
  • Enclose a transcript of your grade twelve mid-year marks
  • Institutions applied to.
  • Academic program(s) of interest.
  • Tuition fees.
  • Copy of letter of acceptance.
  • Personal profile:
    • Interests.
    • Family background.
    • Financial means.
    • Personal savings (summer job).
    • Clubs, groups, etc.
    • Volunteer Work.
    • Work experience.
    • Future plans.
  • Association with or knowledge of the Michael Lutz (1766) Descendants.
  • Two letters of reference—sources can be academic, personal but not from family members, and business.
  • Complete and forward application form with required attachments to:
